AURON HFE-7500 Pentane – New HFE variant

Proven features. Optimized manufacturing. Future-proof.

With AURON HFE-7500 Pentane, Puretecs is expanding its portfolio with a new variant of the high-boiling hydrofluoroether. Comparable thermal properties, a more efficient manufacturing process, and economic advantages make this fluid an attractive alternative for demanding industrial applications.

Comparable Properties – Versatile Applications

AURON HFE-7500 Pentane and AURON HFE-7500 share the same molecular formula (C₉H₅F₁₅O) but differ in their molecular structure.

AURON HFE 7500 Molekülstruktur

A comparison of their thermophysical properties shows that both variants are very similar in terms of key performance parameters.

At 40 °C, AURON HFE-7500 Pentane has a thermal conductivity of 0.084 W/(m·K), compared to 0.086 W/(m·K) for AURON HFE-7500. Their specific heat capacities and densities are also nearly identical.

With a boiling range of 128–133 °C, AURON HFE-7500 Pentane is particularly suitable for applications requiring a high-boiling technical fluid.

Differences exist primarily in viscosity and heat transfer behavior. Overall, AURON HFE-7500 Pentane offers comparable thermal properties and is generally suitable for the same fields of application.

Non-Flammable and Chemically Stable

In addition to its thermal properties, AURON HFE-7500 Pentane offers further advantages for industrial applications.

The fluid is non-flammable, colorless, and odorless. It exhibits high chemical stability under normal operating and storage conditions.

According to the current Safety Data Sheet (SDS), AURON HFE-7500 Pentane is not classified as hazardous under the European CLP Regulation. Accordingly, no hazard labeling is required.

These properties make the fluid an attractive option for demanding technical processes.

More Efficient Manufacturing as a Key Advantage

A key difference between the two variants lies in their manufacturing processes.

While AURON HFE-7500 is produced using electrochemical fluorination (ECF), AURON HFE-7500 Pentane is manufactured through an alternative synthesis process.

This process requires less energy and avoids certain chemical waste products generated during the ECF process.

As a result, the Pentane variant offers advantages in terms of resource efficiency during manufacturing. At the same time, the optimized process enables a more attractive cost structure.

High-Boiling Hydrofluoroether with a Comparatively Low GWP

Both AURON HFE-7500 and AURON HFE-7500 Pentane feature a low Global Warming Potential (GWP = 100).

AURON HFE-7500 Pentane therefore combines the established properties of this fluid category with a more efficient manufacturing process.
